Crazy Frog

Crazy Frog

Crazy frog is based on the 'annoying thing' computer animation that was produced by Erik Wernquist. It is an animation of a frog that is used primarily to sell mobile ringtones.

The crazy frog actually became a worldwide hit in 2005 under the ministry of sound record label reaching number 1 in the UK, Japan, Turkey, New Zealand, Australia and Europe. Following this success there was an album released entitled 'crazy frog presents crazy hits' and then another single called 'popcorn' which also enjoyed chart success. Another album was released in 2006 under the name 'crazy frog presents more crazy hits'. In addition to this a lot of merchandise was produced under the crazy frog theme including video games and toys. Talks have taken place about turning it into a television series.

A German company licensed the 'song' for use as a ringtone in 2004 and using the title 'jamster!' marketed the ringtone extensively. In the UK along it has become one of the most widely recognised ringtones of the time and has earned the company in excess of £14 million. Since this time the company have released other ringtones featuring the crazy frog on a background of different countries style of music (e.g. Indian and Australian) as well as other themes aside from crazy frog.
