Welcome to crazyfrogball.co.uk.
Frogs are amphibians and are varied and wide spread species. Since the 1950's their numbers have been in decline and this is most likely due to a range of environmental factors such as pollution and climate change. Frogs are actually thought to be an excellent indicator of habitat and environmental change.
Frogs live in many different habitats all over the world with the exception of Antarctica and Oceanic Islands. They are carnivorous and for some species this begins in tadpole stage. There are four main stages of development from egg through to the adult frog. When breeding the male will 'call' the female to attract her to a place of egg laying. This call is heard as a 'croak'. A lot of frogs carry a degree of toxin in order to repel predators but in some frogs, such as the poison dart frog, this is a much higher amount and can be fatal to humans.
Recently, biochemists have become interested in harvesting the toxins of frogs to aid medical advances and this is an ongoing process.
